I dont believe in NY resolutions. If you ask me they are just one more thing to fail at. Im not saying that change is impossible, we could all handle a bit of change in our lives. I've decided that every year I will resolve to make no resolutions. In one of my health classes we had a discussion once about how January is the most "depressing" month of the year. Now forget the fact that its the coldest, and the most dismal, and the darkest, and there's that whole "after the holidays blues: "look how much money I spent, look how much weight I gained, why didnt anyone get me that ____ I really wanted" etc. I think the biggest problem is the fact that people competely unreasonable resolutions. Just a thought. Here's what I think about thesome of the most common resolutions:
**climbing on soapbox**
1) Exercise-I'll be the first one to tell you this is a great change for anyone-but to simply say "Im going to exercise" doesnt work. How about something like "I am going to run 3x a week." "I am going to follow ACSM guidelines of cummuliative 30 minutes of activity a day" (which includes walking up stairs, walking through a parking lot, etc.)
2)Lose Weight-Again, great goal...if its needed... There are many shapes and sizes that are healthy. Resolving to fit into a size, or be a certain weight isn't the healthiest way to go. How about figuring out what your optimal health is by using the things that really count like Blood Pressure, Pulse, Vo2, total lean body mass, etc. *AND*Don't restrict yourself from foods that you really love. Its way to depressing to not indulge.
3)Quit Smoking/Drinking- great resolution. No one should smoke or drink. Gross. But don't expect to do it cold turkey. Few people can...very very few.
4) Enjoy life more- How bout doing something you've always wanted to do but didn't think you had the time or money to do? Pick up a new hobby. Call an old friend. Spend more time with family. Learn something new. :)

Too much Faith in Oprah
Dont get me wrong, I love the woman. I truly believe in the idea of the 'Oprah Factor.' Not too long ago I heard that she claimed that a burger joint called "The Counter" was the greatest burger in America. Today we took Ty to the Discovery Museum at the Gateway and decided to get some lunch at the Counter. It was good, dont get me wrong...Im just thinking I could get 6 good Wendys burgers for the same price. Although it is fun to build your own burger exactly how you want it-I just dont think it was the best.

Toilets and cell phones.
This may be two things you think have nothing in common, but oh how they do. They are the two things that we seem to break. Every apartment we have lived in since we got married we have had toilet problems. From random flushing on its own to flooding to leaking. Its not like we use it for anything other than its intended purpose-its just happens. Every apartment until now has apparently had maintenance that is incapable of fixing said problems. We are proud to say that within 24 hours of reporting the current continuously running and random air bubbles in the bowl problem our toilet was fixed. We hope our toilet streak is over. Now onto the cell phones. For as long as I can remember Ive had cell issues. The first time I got one I got the cheapest phone I could and kept it as long as possible. My problem started when I started getting "newer" and "cooler" phones...which also happen to be more expensive. I have dropped one in frosting clogging the charger connection. I have had on flip out on me and start calling people on its own and the alarm would randomly sound when it wasn't set. My son has DROPPED ONE IN THE TOILET (hence the connection between the two). We have one that wont charge and one that says its charging when the charger isn't attached.
Whatever.
Whatever.

Tis the season...
Last weekend we decorated our Christmas Tree and I got the first few presents under the tree. Im a big fan of enjoying the WHOLE holiday for as long as possible. :) We spent Thanksgiving at my moms house which was wonderful. The little guy loved playing with his cousins and he is definately a fan of Thanksgiving dinner-our child has a very healthy appetite. J was excited to ref his first Pee-wee (12-14 yr olds) hockey game yesterday. He did very well and is ready for his Bantam (14-16) game this weekend. My only concern is that the older the kids the more attitude they have.
We are excited that Jason only has 9 days of school left for this semester. He will soon be have only 2 more semesters of classes (he still has 3 internships though). Christmas will be a lot of fun this year. We think T is getting to the age where he will be excited about his new presents.

Twilight
I went to twilight. Its true. I stayed up late and went to the 1220am showing of the new hit craze of a movie on opening day. I think the last time I was up that late I was in labor. :)
I must say, I had a lot of fun. It was fun to hang out with some friends and do something completely girly. Although, we did not belong in the theatre with all the super crazy obsessed fans that were there. I think some people think vampires and werewolves really exist.

Halloween...
Its not a holiday I enjoy to much but this year certainly put a smile on my face! The week started out with a housing party where I happened to be second place in a chili cook-off! Go me. Later this week we had a trunk or treat and a party with Jason's class and then we went to Grandma's to go trick or treating around her neighborhood. Ty got used to the trick or treating idea really quick! He enjoyed the trunk or treat but last night he started running from door to door knocking then saying "please" when someone answered! Then he would politely say "thank you" and be off to the next door! I must say even for me it was fun. Between all the party's he ended up with way too much candy so Jason and I are helping him out... :)
I made his costume when we were back in NY. He was a red M&M. He kept it on the entire time last night and enjoyed showing grandma hawks where his M was. Thank you Mary Anne for your help!

To sum it all up
Well, we are back from NY. It was a GREAT trip! Jason and I agree it was definitely one of the best traveling experiences ever! We flew into JFK on Saturday the 11th in the afternoon. We spent the day just hanging out with Jasons family. Sunday was another hang-out day with the fam. Monday was the day at the Bronx Zoo, Tuesday we went up to Connecticut to visit some people from Jason's past. Wednesday we went down to Manhattan (about a 20-30 minute train ride) and we went to Wicked and just walked about for a while. Thursday and Friday Jason and I made a variety of fun things in Mary Anne's studio. We made Ty a costume for Halloween, he is going to be a red M&M. :) Jason made him a fleece squish ball and I made a big foot pillow. I will stuff it and post pictures at some point but it's flippin cool. Friday night we took Ty to the city for the first time and let him play inside F.A.O Schwartz. Saturday we spent the morning on Coney Island where we went to the NY Aquarium and walked the boardwalk. And I was able to try my first "Famous" Nathans hot dog from the original store. Very cool. I added my FAVORITE picture from Saturday. Its my two boys checking out the Atlantic from the boardwalk. And the flight home was fine. Ty was a bit hyper but he didn't cry, scream, or lash out at all! He spent most of the time flirting with some people sitting around us. Thanks for a trip that couldn't have been better grandma and grandpa Ciccotelli!

Exciting day in NY
Today mom, dad, Ty, and grandpa went to the Bronx Zoo to play. (the bronx zoo is the largest zoo in the US only because the San Diego Zoo is now catagorized as a wildlife preserve). We all had a lot of fun! We got there early enough to watch the sea lions get fed and we also got to watch a 3 month old pup play around. We spent all of our morning and early afternoon there. Then we came home and we spent some time with a friend from NJ and then all the boys went to MSG to see the Rangers (the NY NHL hockey team) play. It was a great game and Jason came home super stoked that they are now in first place and are 5-0. Because of this packed day Ty wasnt able to take a nap. He was perfectly fine and content until about 7pm tonight...right when he finished dinner (see pic at the left.) And for those who are wondering, he was better behaved then we were on the flight out!

Off to NY
One of the first posts of this blog was the last time we were in NY for New Years. (hahah...in NY for NY...).
Now we are off again! In 12 short hours we will be off to the airport. We are excited for the trip once we are there, but the getting there is leaving me slightly anxious! The flight is about 5 hours and we arent exactly sure how our 19 month old (active) child is going to handle it. The last NY trip was difficult, but not terrible because he couldnt walk yet. The flights to/from vegas werent too bad because he was tired and a little sick so he just wanted to cuddle (plus its a short flight). Wish us luck!
Once we get there we have a lot of fun things planned and we are very excited to see Jasons family! We are mostly excited to see how they react to how big out little guy is! Hopefully we can keep up with our activities and post pictures.

HELP!
I am in desperate need of ideas for Ty's Halloween costume! Jason had an idea of him being a fireman, and I was thinking of him being an M&M. I also thought it might be cute if I could figure out a way for him to be a fish (since he knows how to do fish lips). He is too young to make a choice himself so I need your help making the decision for him.
(I would greatly appreciate the comments of Mary Anne, Jenny, and Emily (autumns and prairies thoughts would be nice too) since I know for a fact you three know lots of making stuff.

Great day!
-Jason pulled an all-nighter last night. I thought it was a stupid idea and he has definitely heard all about my feelings all day. He had a test this morning and wanted to feel very ready for it since it was the first test in this class. His original plan was to stay up late and still get 4-5 hours of sleep (plenty of sleep for this guy) At 3am he decided to stay up because he was worried that if he went to sleep he would miss his alarm (apparently he had a brain lapse and forgot that his wife hits him every time the alarm goes off). Well, he was off to school and aced his test.
-Ty slept till after 830 this morning. He has never slept that late. Ever. Never. It was wonderful.
-Now, here is the biggie...When Jason got home he and Ty both took a 2 hour nap, after which we took Ty skating for the first time-on his own skates! He absolutely loved it! (I know capri's look terrible with my skates) Check out the video below.
-When we left the rink we went to the Tracey Aviary. We have a zoo membership so we can get in free on the first Thursday of every month. We got to see the Condor and the Pelicans being fed. Very interesting.
-Then Ty got to play at the huge playground at Liberty Park. -I then had another very successful shopping trip where I saved $46.00 but only spent $24.00 (I love saving money...its such a thrill to me!)
All in all we thought it was a great day. :)

Ty's Jam-Jam's
We call Ty's Jammies "Jam-Jams." He actually started it... Anyway, We have had these particular BYUTAH ones since New Years. Jason and I love them but we underestimated how many other people would love them! Although they are just about too small for the kid (he has about 2 more times wearing them!) we got a picture for those of you who asked for one. Its not the greatest shot, and I will try to get another one, but it will do for now.
And PS. they are homemade, cant buy these babies.

Ty's new toy
Ty has always been very good around babies. He doesn't have to be told to be soft or anything. He is just so sweet and loves to give babies kisses. I'm hoping that the doll we bought him a few weeks ago will help encourage that behavior. For a while I have been on Jason to let me buy Ty a doll and a stroller. I was finally able to come to an agreement with him about a doll. Its a baby cabbage patch kid. He LOVES this doll. He will hold him and rock him and give him loves all the time. Jason and Ty have named him "ya-ya." Well, about the stroller... Every stroller out there is pink or purple. I'm with Jason on this one. I don't want Ty have a blue doll and a pink and purple stroller. Well the other day we saw a couple of our neighbors with blue baby strollers! Apparently Build a Bear sells them so we went and bought one! Ty LOVES it! He will push that baby all day long! After I replace the batteries on the camera I am going to try and get video of him!

New Name
I changed the name of our blog because some friends of mine in our ward were telling me about freaks and creaps who can get stalker info with names and stuff. Now Im freaked out because since I left the Police Dept I no longer have the backing of officers. So if anyone has any cool new names for this blog we would appreciate them. Unless this one works. :)

Depression...
Okay, so Im not really depressed. Im feeling slightly down about this blogging situation. I see a zillion blogs that are custom made with pictures and like scrapbook page templates and just all around cuteness. I want one but I have no idea how to make one. Sadness. I also am in desperate need of a name for our blog. Ciccotelli just isnt peppy enough. Help.

NO MORE SHOTS!
Ty is officially done with all of his immunizations until he is 4! We are all so very excited. Next time he gets a shot he will be at bribing age. :) Congrats Ty Jason!

18 months and growing...
Today was Ty's 18 month appointment with his pediatrician. I cant believe his next appt will be when he is two!
He is growing like a weed and developing perfectly! He is above average in many of the categories for his age. We are just so proud of our little over-acheiver! The funny thing is that we like to think we have a tough little guy. He can handle a fall off 3 metal stairs like a champ. He runs into a wall...nothing. He can face-plant on the cement and he's fine...but try to weigh and measure that kid and he has a coronary. I havent heard him scream that loud since the last time he had to be weighed and measured. I wouldnt exactly say it was funny but it was a little ironic that while he was hyperventilating during the easy part, when it came time to getting his two shots he was upset that we had to pin him but then sat up, nuzzled into my shoulder and just said "ouch." No screaming, no crying, nothing. :)

My Little Pillsbury Dough Boy
Today I decided to make some Pillsbury Grand Biscuits (that I got for all of .50 cents...go me). I hate opening those stupid pop package things. They freak me out. My mom thinks it stems back to a time when I was a child and I went grocery shopping with her. Apparently the car was very warm and on the way home one of those stupid things exploded sending me into a fit of despair, hysterics, and of course, fear. Anyway, I had Jason open it for me and then I set it on the table while I prepared the cookie sheet and a few other things for dinner. Although Ty was sitting in his booster seat and turned away from the table, I underestimated either the length of his arms or his strange "elastigirl" (see the incredibles) abilities because it the two seconds I had my back turned he had found himself fully satisfied eating the raw dough. I turned to the sound of him saying "Yum Yum." This is why my chemicals and cleaning stuff is on a shelf even I can hardly reach. And if you are wondering, he enjoyed them just as much when they were cooked.

Ty has learned a new word...More. The great thing is that he isnt obnoxious when he says it. Its just cute. He has combined it with a few other words too. More num (nums is what he calls food). More up, more down, more out, etc. Its very cute to hear him say it. He also loves babies. My nephew Nash is the first baby I think he remembers and since we always showed him the baby and pictures of him by saying "nash" instead of baby, he uses Nash for every baby. On TV is "nash!" in chuch, "Nash!" and every baby he see's. Now if he see's more than one baby its "More Nash"
My kid is so cute!

Bucket Head
Recently Ty has developed a habit of putting things on his head. This could be a pot he found in the kitchen, a toy bucket, or his latest finding...a trash can. He emptied all of the contents out of the trash (which thankfully is a small one we use for papers and other non-disgusting items) and he put in on his head and starting walking around. This went on for a good 10 minutes during the which he was chasing Jason and them trying to feel his way around to find Jason. I finally had to get the camera to capture such an adorable moment. Hope you enjoy! :)

New words
Ty is starting to really pick up on words that we ask him to say. He still has his regular words "Duck, Puppy, ouch, yes, up, ampa (for grandpa), nerma (for grandma)," and many others but recently we have introduced a few more words into his vocabulary. He has started to say "Amen" which is very cute when he says it after he has been folding his arms during prayer. (our pride and joy!) Today I taught him the word "Sale." We went to park city, which happens to be one of my favorite places. We bought him some new clothes on "sale." Im pretty sure that was my first word back in the day. We also went to the Olympic Park and walked around and saw some of the cool stuff up there. As we watched the summer trainee's for the ski jumps Ty was saying "wow." Then we showed him the bobsled track (where for only 60$ you can experience it yourself...) and we tried to teach him "fast."
Ty is getting so big and it is so fun to watch him grow up and learn so much!

Breaking dawn and Anniversary
I borrowed the book Breaking Dawn from my sister and I finished it in 22 hours. This book is 750 pages. I told Jason that if he wanted me to be a wife and a mom and to be an active part of our Anniversary tomorrow he needed to leave me be and let me read...which he did. I found the book to be good. It was interesting enough for me to keep reading but not too dark. I thought it ended the serious well. Now I get to enjoy a day with my husband celebrating 3 years of our joined life. :)

The Osmond Phenomonon
I must admit that I have never understand the excitement about the Osmonds, but then again, I was born in the wrong generation apparently. Anyway, one of my greatest cousin friends is an Osmond. My mothers sister married Tom (for those of you not obsessed with the entire family Tom is one of the brothers...you know, Alan, Merrill, Jimmy, Donny, Marie, a few others, and Tom.) So I have grown up hearing about "The Osmonds." I saw them on TV doing various talk shows, game shows, etc. Heck, Ive even met Donny and Marie (oh mercy me!) Ive even been to Donnys house. My gosh...no way. I did benefit from the Ownership Alan had in the Stadium of Fire a few years ago and was able to go for free to see none other than the BEACH BOYS (with back up drummer John Stamos oh la la).
Now here is the point I am getting too... Today we were hanging out downtown and decided to do the conference Center tour. In our group was a man from Missouri. When we were on the roof looking at the temple this man starts expressing how this has been his best vacation ever because he saw Donny Osmond in the temple yesterday. He just couldnt believe it and he was so curious about what was going on and why he would be there. Well, I couldnt help it. I said "Well, he is an active member of the church who has a current recommend, but if that isnt enough to get him to the temple then the marriage of his son is." He looked at me with a very bewildered look...I could tell he wanted to hear more so I said "yeah, Im related to the Osmonds." Granted Im not related the THE OSMONDS, just SOME Osmonds. Maybe someday I will fully appreciate what so many others seem to love so dearly.

The things we like about our new place...
Well, we are officially moved it. It has been a long and busy two days but we are all settled it (except for the picture hanging and a bit of organizing). In a matter of a day and a half we have already started to enjoy a few things we like to consider luxuries!
-AC. Jason and I have never had AC in the three years of marriage. And now...we have it!
-Dishwasher. Its a little strange that we dont have to play paper rock scissors to determine whose job it is!
-Internet. The most we have had is dail-up. But here at our new place it is so totally included!
-WD hookups. Now, this is cool. You mean I dont have to walk back and forth to a coin op with a toddler in tow? Cool! The hookups would be depressing without the screaming awesome deal we got on a Washer/Dryer. Great condition, about 2-3 years old whirlpool set for 100$. I love craigs list!
-Maintenance. Seriously. We requested our blinds be fixed and miraculously within 12 hours, they were. We have never had service like that!
It doesnt take make to impress us these days. :)

We have a place to live!
We have offially found a place to live! We are very excited to be able to be in our own place again on Tuesday. We will be living at "Shoreline Ridge." It is the housing they build for the Olympic Athletes. We got a pretty good deal and it is really close to Jasons buildings. We are very excited! Tuesday cant come to soon!

HE IS HOME!
Jason is now home! It is wonderful. I flew down on Wednesday and we drove back together yesterday. We are so happy that the internship is over! It was such a good experience for him and he learned a lot but we are ready to be back in a place together. Now we just have to find one. :)
Ty was sick last week. It was so sad! He had what was described to me as having ulcers on his tonsils. He was in SO MUCH PAIN and there was nothing we could do...just wait it out. I had him practically drinking Tylonol out of the bottle! He is doing much better now but I think it is because his daddy is home and no one can make him laugh like his daddy can!

Happy Freedom Day
(I was emailed this pic by a friend and loved it!)
We want to wish everyone a happy 4th of July!
And even though the price of everything is going up and there are so many sad things happening in the world at least we can walk outside and not see soilders with machine guns strolling our streets and we can run around with our kids and not have to worry about stepping on land mines and at least we are free.
I admire and respect those woman who say goodbye to thier husbands for much longer than I said goodbye to mine.
Remember our soilders this holiday and how thankful we should be for them.

Still Waiting...
We are still waiting for Jason. :) I will be flying to Las Vegas a week from Wednesday to drive home with him. Thus the countdown begins! I cannot begin to express how long this summer has felt at times! Overall is has gone fairly well but it is going to be a good thing to have in the past. Ty is doing great. He is starting to talk like crazy. His vocabulary consists of words like Mom, dad, duck, up, no, ouch, am-pa (for grandpa) nerma (for grandma) and a few others here and there. He understands so much too! He is actually starting to do what I say. Granted, I know this is for a limited time only because Im sure he will become quite defiant in his own time!

Three weeks and counting
Well, Today is the three week mark until I fly down to Vegas to drive back with Jason. 7 weeks down, 3 more to go! We are very excited for this internship to be over. He has really enjoyed working in the field and getting some PT experience but we are ready to be back together! Hopefully we will quickly find a place and be back is SLC as soon as we can.

No News...
Well, nothing much is going on with any of us. Jason is still just working hard in the hospital in Vegas. He is doing really well and I think he is enjoying it. This week he will be half done! We are getting very excited. He will be coming to Utah for Fathers Day next weekend which will be very nice. Ty and I are just hanging out. Our days start to run together but at least I have a few friends around. Speaking of which...
Anna, when you read this call me. I think the boys need to play. :)

Vegas...COLD?!?!?
I never thought that I could come away to vegas to catch some cooler temps at the end of May! Yesterday the high was mid 60's, today we havent gotten above 62 and it isnt expected to get warmer till next week! We have seen poeple in parka's! We think this is great, we've been walking around in shorts and t shirts! It has been raining off and on since we got here but its really nice. We've done some fun things and its nice for all of us to be together for a bit. We only wish we could have taken Ty swimming but oh well, he has come down with a nasty cold anyway. Probably all that recycled airplane air. So combining a cold with the pack n play and a new place Ty is making Jason make up for not having to get up with him the past 3 weeks!

Oh what a beautiful morning...
I love this weather. Ty is upset because I wont let him go outside. Im thinking that maybe later I will just send him out anyway. Im sure he would love to play in the rain considering one of his favorite things is being sprayed in the face by a water bottle! Im excited for the next few days of cooler weather and rain. Las Vegas is suppose to be in the 70's and 80's through memorial day...and that is great news cause WE ARE GONNA BE THERE! We are so excited to see Jason! Best present EVER!

Mothers day and the Hoff
Well, Jason has now been in LV for 9 days. It has been a long 9 days and we still have quite a ways to go! We miss him terribly! For mothers day he worked really hard and had some pictures taken of he and Ty and had three of them made into a collage for me and framed it. It is so beautiful! I will I could post it but I cant. :( I have one of the pictures (which is posted) but not the others. Even though he wasnt here it was wonderful to have such a thoughtful gift from him. Also this past week my sister who is working on learning the in's and outs of photography so she took a few of just Ty and I. It was fun. We got some cute pictures of him chasing a group of ducks saying "Duck, duck, duck, duck." Now I just have to teach him "goose!"
Just a side note, I just got off the phone with Jason and since today is his day off he decided to go explore the strip. He has only been there twice with me and both were short trips with limited time on the strip. He was so excited because he "hassled the hoff." Well, I guess the hoff actually hassled him. David Hasslehoff was on his cell phone and I guess just about ran into Jason. He was very excited.

Forgetful me...
http://www.cherirodasphotography.com/
I was recently reminded that I have a blog and that I have not posted. Now that Jason is down in Las Vegas for his internship Im sure I will find plenty of time to keep everything up to date. Jason will be in LV until July doing an internship for school. We cant believe in two years he will have his Doctorate of Physical Therapy! He has been working so hard and he is doing excellent in school. I am still being the stay at home mom. Nothing new in my life but Ty keeps me pretty busy. He has been walking since about 11 months and now has decided that running is much better. :) He is very smart and understands virtually everything we tell him and he listens. Im sure that part is short-lived! He says 'yes' all the time and he is starting to say 'what's this' all the time. He has yet to say 'no' and we hope to keep it that way! The only time he will say mom is when he is in his crib and he wants out. He is still in need of a haircut, I dont have the guts to do it so I am trying to talk my mom into cutting it. We recently had my friend take some pictures for us and for the first time since he was born we got atleast a half smile when the camera was on him.

With and without...
SO cute! Now my child is in desperate need of a haircut. :) Both these pictures were taken at Cheri's house (my photographer friend). She is very talented. She got some pictures of him even though he was SCREAMING the whole time!
As you can see in the one with the helmet he has teeth. He actually just had is eighth break through!

picture FYI
So our computer hasnt been reading our camera. Still working on that. The pictures will come...promise.
Its been a while...and now the helmet is off!!!
It has certainly been a while since the last post. Ty is at the age where he cant really be trusted to just sit and play nice anymore. He is increasingly intrigued by everything and wants to get into, and destroy anything he possibly can! He is such a good kid though. Jason and I have no complaints. He is very patient (jason tests him all the time) and he just loves to smile and laugh. He certainly keeps me busy and having him and a computer within 2 feet of each other isnt wise...he would fine the keys, lights, and cords way to tempting!
Today was a particularly special day...the helmet is officially off! The doctor said he sees incredible improvement and with time as Ty grows his head should continue to shape perfectly. :) We are very excited to be able to kiss his head and not have to worry about a helmet smashing down on our faces! The biggest issue at hand at the current time is a haircut. His hair has continued to grow and grow underneath that helmet and now it needs a trim! In its current state Im sure some people would die for the volume he has! We took a few final helmet pictures last night and we tried to keep him still for atleast a half second to get one of him tonight without the helmet.
